Well made and roomier than I expected. I would highly recommend as a student laptop backpack - mainly because it can accomodate laptop with accesories and some books/notebooks, etc. And, very comfortable to wear for extended periods.

Pros:
- well made
- good zippers - that's important
- solid brand - I've owned many Wenger products and they last
- nice support/suspension for laptop protection
- same kind of support neoprene "hammock" inside for your mp3 player and also has a hole at the top to feed through your headset/remote - very nice
- very comfortable back padding and strap system
- good organization pockets
- water bottle side pockets - a must for mobile phone.

Cons:
- nothing significant
- the fabric is thick but I would have preferred a thicker bottom layer in case you have to put it down somewhere wet.
- as I mentioned, I think this is better suited for students or for a weekend laptop bag. In my opinion, I wouldn't go into the office with it - my first choice in that respect continues to be the Samsonite "Business Casual" Executive Backpack. All around great bag - you can't go wrong (with either of these).

This is by no means a bad laptop bag but for the money, you could probably get something better by Targus or Swiss Gear. The bottle holder net seems a bit pointless because if you choose to use it, the pocket it is hidden in becomes unuseable. However, capacity is good without being over voluminous, so you don't fill it to the point where you cannot lift it. It does have some decent features including the cinch straps to reduce its size when not filled with stuff. I used it for a 16" laptop and would be surprised if it was big enough for a 17" model. The laptop compartment is reasonably well padded but don't expect this bag to protect your investment as well as an atache' style case. Quality seems pretty good but not up to the standard of Targus and Swiss Gear, both of which I have had in the past.

I ordered this notebook to hold my school-issued Gateway Tablet computer. It is well-constructed and solid. The computer is well protected with ample amounts of padding. There is more than enough room to put all the standard cords and cables in the front Velcro pocket. I can put several folders and small paperback textbooks in the zippered compartment behind the front Velco pocket. Each pocket also has room and compartments for assorted school supplies, calculators, assignment books, etc. The straps are very well padded. Even though the computer weighs a lot for being a notebook, it hardly seems like any weight due to the strapping and solid construction. It is well worth the money.

I was initially very happy with the design and look of the bag. It looked very sturdy. However, after 1 month's usage, i discovered the right strap's thread is starting to come off from the seam. Moreover, it's not the usual strap that i normally used to carry the bag. I used to carry a file and notebook.

I'm truly disappointed as i had high regards for swiss gear's product. I initially thought of buying another smaller version but I don't think so anymore.

Overall this is a nice accessory bag for my laptop/mobile phone accessories. It made travelling a whole lot easier as I wasn't looking for cords and plugs, etc. The only downside is the compartments inside of the bag. The bag is divided evenly; it would be nicer if there were one or two compartments within the bag were slightly larger. I would buy it again though.

NOTE on the interface first: Amazon's review system is really weird in this case where the drop-down selection is for *different* back-packs (unlike the usual where it's only a color scheme change). Like me, you might end up reading a review for a particular back-pack which is not really the one you are looking to buy, just because the reviews for all five bags are mixed up together and not filtered as per the back-pack selected.

This review is specific to the Targus RGS012 15.4 Slam Backpack. First off, the question in many prospective customers' minds are "will it take a 15.4" Wide Screen Notebook?" The answer is a resounding Yes. I got mine yesterday and I tried to fit in my Dell Inspiron E1505 15.4" WXGA Notebook. It fit like a glove - very snugly; neither too tight nor too loose. The velcro strap is also just right and is not too short as one other reviewer had mentioned. It's stretchable so I can't fathom what kind of a thick notebook would one be carrying nowadays that the strap can't easily accomodate. There's also room for a couple of magazines and/or file folders in the same compartment.

Contrary to what a reviewer mentioned elsewhere, the side pockets *can* accomodate a water bottle each albeit of the 20oz kind - provided you don't store anything else in the side pockets. Any bigger a bottle and you have to store it elsewhere -- the main compartment or in another bag's side pocket.

The middle compartment is spacious enough to fit in about 3 T-shirts and maybe up to two (max) trousers if you roll them up or fold them very neatly with some space to spare for your jockey shorts. In here too is a pocket for storing a 2-3 magazines (the thickness of Time, Newsweek or NatGeo).

You can fit in a bathing and hand towel and essential toileteries (toothbrush, paste, soap, shampoo, shaving kit, and maybe a spray-on can) in the third compartment - that would be really stretching it but it can handle it just in case you *really* need to have them along. But you can always transfer a few knick-knacks to either or both the side pockets. Like the other two compartments, this too has a pocket for storing a few magazines.

An aside: if you start using up ~all~ the pockets in the compartments for magazines AND fill it up with clothes / notebook etc it's gonna get very bulky for sure !!!

The outermost and final pocket is good for a portable media player, cell phone and maybe a few CDs alongwith your thumb drive - just be very careful that you don't end up crushing them while travelling or maybe leaning against a wall. There's no padding available.

The straps have some paddings on them but it may not be very comfortable if you're going full-load with the bag; personally I'd have prefered a slightly wider strap with thicker paddings.

In conclusion, the finishing and worksmanship on this bag is pretty decent and I have nothing to complain about. This is a good back-pack.

I liked the laptop sleeve until the metal body glove logo label on the front chipped the top of my laptop. The label is a metal logo that has 2 prongs that fit through a back piece and then fold over. Well, the prongs were not folded flat and one of them took a huge chip out of the cover of my laptop. I'm lucky I didn't have a tablet or it would have ruined the screen. And Fellowes has an extremely frustrating and complicated claims process. I do not recommend this product. I gave it 1 star because they wouldn't let me give it 0. A protective case that inflicts damage is useless.

I was in the market for a new bag for work. I've never bought a lowepro product but their reputation was good, so I thought I'd give it a try.


What a pleasant surprise! Construction is fantastic, heavy material and stitching all around. Black with orange accents, it achieves a nice balance between conservative and trendy.

Also, this product can hold alot of stuff without losing it's shape too much.

This product also has alot of pockets, although I think that it should have more zippered pockets for loose items (has 3).

I'd recommend this product and definitely buy from Lowepro again.

I found this bag to be a little too tight for my Samsung NC10. I want to keep the Samsung-supplied sleeve on my netbook to offer further protection from scratches. However, with this sleeve on, it makes it difficult to close the zipper. Putting my notebook mouse into the inside pouch makes it even more difficult to close the zipper and causes a bulge on the inner side of the bag. I have resorted to putting the mouse and power supply into the outer pouch, but they are too much for the pouch, with the power cables sticking out of the top. The magnet that keeps the outside pouch closed doesn't do any good because the power supply and cables are just too large for the pouch. I'll try winding up the cables neater, but it shouldn't take me more than a few seconds to stow the laptop and its accouterments. This bag does get bonus points for the shoulder strap. The BUA10 does the job of carrying my NC10, power supply, and mouse, but not as well as I had hoped. I'll keep using this case until I find something else that is compact but large enough to stow a mouse and power supply inside the case.

Edit 3/16/2009: With use, the NC10 seems to fit into the bag easier than when I initially got the bag. Just like how a new pair of shoes eventually gets broken-in. It is no longer difficult to get the zipper to close when the NC10 is in its carrying case inside the BUA10.

The second big section in the main compartment is great for carrying a few folders and the charger. These two sections are secured snugly with a drawstring attached to a toggle.

The underside of the flap, lined with a soft reddish orange corduroy material, has a Velcro attachment to the main part of the bag. The flap covers two outside zippered pockets. The smaller of these two pockets could easily hold pencils, pens, a calculator, keys, and a few small personal items. The larger pocket is divided into three sections, this is an ideal place to carry a cell phone, an iPod, a wallet; things like that.

The wide shoulder strap is adjustable and fits comfortably on the shoulder. The vivid orange and red color and design of the bag is fun and bright. Not exactly professional or mature in appearance, but perfect, I think, for a student.

I really like this bag! Not only is it cute, but it is also ideal for carry around your laptop and school books in. I can fit my 14.1' laptop in the paded area and theres still a lot of room at the top. When it first arrived I was impressed with how quickly it came. Looking at the bag I was concerned that it wouldn't hold everything that I needed to take with me. I'm a college student and typically carry around my laptop and at least 2 textbooks and notebooks. This bag held everything! I was able to put 3 larger texts, 3notebooks, a folder, my laptop and all the cords for the computer in at one time. The straps are nice and help when carrying large loads. Although I would have liked more pockets, the ones provided do fit most of everything I wanted. The only complaint I have is that that there is no pocket on the top of the bag to carry pens or misc. things in. Other than that the bag is great! I'd recommend it to any student.

I originally went looking for a neoprene case for my laptop to make it easier to lug back and forth from work. However, I'm glad that I stumbled across a recommendation about this bag somewhere on a web user forum, because this bag is excellent. It provided me all the weight savings I was looking for, without forcing me to make compromises about storage pockets or a shoulder strap, and it did it all without costing an arm and a leg. The bag is very lightweight; it weighs next to nothing on its own (though obviously a bit more than a plain neoprene case with only a handle and no pockets). It fits my MacBook Pro perfectly, and the included power supply carrying case is a nice touch. Inside the bag, there are plenty of pockets for pens, business cards, USB flash drives, etc. I can fairly easily carry a couple of spiral-bound notebooks with my laptop and power cord, but the bag really isn't meant to carry tons of stuff. The point I want to make is that if you want to carry your laptop *and* accessories, you can, which is more than can be said of most lightweight slim bags. The shoulder strap is fairly comfortable, and padded, and has a standard clip to facilitate easier removing of the bag rather than pulling it over your head. Unfortunately, the included pocket on the strap is too tight for me to put my iPhone in it, and I think the only thing that would fit comfortably is a RAZR or something smaller. I will point out that I've never had a bag fit me quite so nicely. I honestly think I could jog somewhere with my laptop on my back, and not feel awkward that I'm struggling to keep the bag on my back. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that there were a few stray threads here and there, but nothing I would consider to be a problem, and at $44, I'm willing to overlook that regardless. Overall, in my opinion, this bag rocks, and I wish it were easier to find in stores so that more people would know about it. You should get this bag if you're looking for a lightweight bag with room for a few extra things and like the idea of a sling strap.

I purchased this product as a backup for my $100 leather laptop case and because I saw it listed as a top seller -- it's now my full-time laptop carrying case and I understand clearly why it is so popular.

Well-designed, sturdy and light ... perfect for the office as well as school. Lots of pockets without being gimmicky, ergonomics were definitely a major consideration in product development. It's so much more comfortable than my pricier laptop case and so much more versatile, too. I can carry books, files, lunch -- just about everything but the kitchen sink without getting a sore shoulder.

My purchase price was <$20 with the rebate but I would easily pay twice that with pleasure should I ever need to replace it. Un-be-liev-a-ble. Great for students or as a gift.

After owning 3 messenger bags for my laptop and books, and having each one wear out in some (major) way after about a year/year-and-a-half, I decided to finally bite the bullet and get a laptop backpack. This one seemed to be at a good price ($35), and the reviews were nearly glowing with enthusiasm and praise, so I went for it.

The first thing I noticed when it came was that the picture online is a bit deceptive in that it makes it seem very small; this was not really the case on my smallish 5'8" frame. So it is a bit larger than I had expected, but because of that it holds a lot... and I mean... A LOT. After using it for a week now, I can say that the two strongest pluses are that it's built like a veritable tank (I've never seen such quality nylon before!), and it is designed in such a way that, even fully loaded, it disperses the weight well, and puts minimal pressure on your shoulders. Very good for the back.

All in all, I'm very happy so far. This bag lives up to the reviews, and I hope that it will last a long, long time for me.

I just returned yesterday from my first trip with this backpack. Over one week, I took this bag on 6 plane trips, 2 bus rides, 1 taxi ride, 1 shuttle ride, and multiple car rides. I can say that it is definitely worth its price... and then some. It's ridiculously durable (and comfortable!), and with a 3-year warranty, I don't think you could go wrong with this bag. A definite must-have for those on the go! Highly recommended.

Still loving this backpack, but I thought it would be good if I mentioned one downside that I hadn't expected. I had it out the other day in a heavy rain for the first time. I wasn't really out in the rain that long, but it was evident that this bag isn't very water proof. A book and some papers got fairly wet, and I'm glad that my laptop wasn't in there at the time.

I got this backpack few weeks ago and its pretty good so far. For some reasons this one (which is red) is cheaper then the black one, even though they are the same backpack expect for the color differences. I'm guessing because more people are into black color backpack. Anyways, I'm just going to put the bad and the good about this backpack.

GOOD
-This can fit a 15.4" laptop, anything bigger than 15.4 will not fit.
-Well made, it will last for a long time.
-Lot's of small protected pocket for Ipod, PSP, HardDrive..etc.
-Feels good when its placed on your back, it's design to have air flow between your back and the backpack. This way you will not have a wet spot on your back.
-Cheap

Bad
-It's kinda small in size, you can fit a laptop and few binders and maybe 2 books. That is about it, there are spaces but its more for small items. There are bigger version of SwissGear backpack, but it cost more.

Overall, this is a great backpack for it's price. If I would buy another one in the future I would still chose SwissGear.

If you are like me, and you have a large amount of books and other stuff to carry around, this bag is perfect. And it has several pockets to store sunglasses, a bag lunch, a nice cell phone pouch that can fit anything from a reasonably sized Nokia to a clamshell phone hanging off of the left shoulder strap, Palm Pilot, iPod - with even a slot to fit your earbuds or headphones through, although that's kind of tricky -- a very well-padded storage area for your Notebook computer, all the connections and wires that accompany it, and, top it all off, a place for your water bottle.

If you are taking a lot of classes with a lot of books, the compartments are very spacious and can hold a lot. Unlike most reviewers here I find it very comfortable when full, and not heavy at all once you are used to a little extra weight.

Overall, I highly recommend this product, especially for the price, since a similarly equipped bag should cost over $[...] or more (but don't tell that to Amazon or the Manufacturer :D )

I normally prefer Victorinox products, but when I saw this bag at Sam's Club for $40, I had to get it. It's heavy duty and well padded with ergonomic shoulder straps and an air ventilation system necessary for anyone who wears a backback for more than just casual toting. For example, it works well if you ride a motorcycle or even a bicycle. Air is channeled directly down the center of your back and is diffused through lightweight padding along your shoulder blades. Most important is the padded sleeve for your laptop. It only holds laptops up to 17" so if you're trying to squeeze a widescreen laptop in there it probably won't fit. But then again, if you have a 17" widescreen laptop you probably didn't buy it for its easy portability anyway. It has lots of pockets and compartments, including a padded media compartment and a headphone jack on the shoulder strap for easy plug-and-play. It even has a padded sleeve within a side zippered compartment for your favorite Swiss Army Knife. It's not as wide or cumbersome as some other laptop backpacks out there, (Targus, you know who I'm talking about), but it does have some weight to it even when empty. I suppose that's to be expected when dealing with quality materials and padded sleeves.
